Never before 3 step cardiac surgery cures child

Cardiac surgeons at BM Birla performed a high risk, complex 3 step cardiac surgery to save 13 year old Tumpa Patra (name changed on grounds of anonymity). The child had been suffering from “Transposition of Great Arteries” since birth and was facing a lot of distress in mobility and respiration.

Led by Dr. Manoj Daga, a team of doctors performed a valve repairment and a ventricular septal device closure on her and brought her back from the jaws of imminent death. It was the first time in the world that such a surgery had been performed on such a young child. History was created at BM Birla.
