

The M Sc in Nursing is a post-graduate program of two years duration leading to a Degree of Master of Science in Nursing, designed to enable the graduates with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing to acquire greater knowledge and understanding in order to function effectively as clinicians , educators and managers and to assume professional leadership.
1. Philosophy
It is the belief of the faculty that the M Sc Nursing program will prepare graduates who will be able to render quality care to patients based on scientific approaches.
We believe that M Sc Nursing Graduates will be able to improve situations and bring about changes in the hospital and help nursing practice and guide others to give better quality of nursing care.
We believe that the M. Sc Nursing Graduates will assume teaching responsibilities in the preparation of better qualified nursing personnel and function as effective managers in different areas of nursing.
We believe that the M. Sc graduates will assume leadership while meeting
the changing health needs of the society and contribute towards the progress of the Profession, through researches.
We believe that the M. Sc graduates will adhere to standards of personal ethics, which reflect credit upon profession.
2. General Objectives of the M. Sc in Nursing Course.
The objectives of the M. Sc program are to prepare students who will
demonstrate :
Ability to give quality care to patients in the clinical area (both in general and specialized areas ) based on comprehensive problem solving approach.
Ability to function as effective educators and managers with the application of modern concepts and technology.
Leadership abilities to initiate and bring about changes in all areas of practice.
Ability to critically evaluate and use the research findings for better practice and to engage in research activities.
Interest in continuing education and contribute to professional advancement.
Ability to develop a collaborative relationship with organizations, agencies , and Individuals concerned with delivery of health care.
3.Rules For Admission
Only women candidates are eligible to apply for the M. Sc Nursing course.
Candidates shall be admitted for the Degree of Master of Science in Nursing, if she fulfills the following requirement.
4. Eligibility
All admissions are provisional till the University approves the eligibility.
The following original certificates together with the typed copies should be
Submitted with the eligibility form:
1. B.Sc. Nsg . Degree
2. Mark-sheet of the B.Sc Nsg. examination
3. Migration certificate from the University.
5. Duration
The duration of the course is 2 academic years ( 4 semester ) . The first semester Expected to commence on the 1 st week of June 2002.6. Number of Seats
Number of seats available for admission to the first year of M. Sc . Nursing course shall be 4 (will be increased for future batches).
7. Selection
Selection will be based on an entrance test and interview conducted by the Institution and also on the basis of the confidential reports received.
Candidates with 60% marks in the first attempt at the B.Sc Nursing examination will be eligible to appear for the entrance test.
8. Attendance
Minimum attendance shall be 75% for each subject and 95% for each of practicals in order to be eligible for the University examination.
9. Vacation
Students are not permitted to have any kind of leave or absentism during the course.

Mental Health Nursing – 4 Seats
Medical Surgical Nursing – Cardiovascular thoracic Nursing. - 8 Seats
Midwifery and Obstetrical Nursing - 5 Seats
Child Health Nursing – 5 Seats
Community Health Nursing – 5 Seats
11. Examination
University examination shall be conducted in every year in the subjects covered during the respective semesters.
> Has qualified for the B.Sc (Nursing) degree of any University .
> Has had 2 years of experience of which, one year of experience should be in any clinical area in hospital .
> Should have 60% in B.Sc. Nursing and passed B.Sc Nursing in one chance.
> Age should be less than 40 years.
